British restaurants generates millions of pounds worth of food waste
A new study shows that 320,000,000 meals are throw away yearly by British restaurants and cafes.
The Guardian declares that nearly 900,000 meals are thrown away by British restaurants and cafes every day, according to the food waste app Too Good To Go. The app has created a business by re-selling left over's and food that is nearing its expiration date.
The food that is being thrown away corresponds to 320,000,000 meals per year or five meals per Britt.
"No one leaves the light on when they leave the house. However, we do not reflect enough over the food that goes to waste, whether it is at a restaurant, supermarket or at home " Hayley Conick, British director of Too Good to Go, explains.
Official British figures show that 15 billion pounds of edible food ends up in the landfills every year. And 290 million liters of milk ends up in the drain every day.
