Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark's capital has been selected as the world's best city to visit, and the city's ambitious green profile has a clear goal: The City of Copenhagen is aiming to become the world's first CO2-neutral capital in 2025.

In Copenhagen there is a short road to both water and green areas. It is a green and bicycle friendly city that can be explored on the many new electric city bikes. You can stay in an sustainability-certified hotel, where as many as 75% of the city's hotel rooms are certified with either the Nordic Swan or Green Key, you can swim in the clean water in the city's water baths or eat organic and Nordic food from Michelin restaurants to street food markets.

Environmental efforts

Our historic venue, Pakhus Bryggen, was Green Key certified in 2025.

Green Key is the international eco-label for tourism. The Green Key certification ensures you that Pakhus Bryggen meets a range of requirements. This means that Pakhus Bryggen, among other things, only uses eco-labeled cleaning products, has implemented waste sorting, minimizes our energy and water consumption, and focuses on using organic ingredients. We follow the current and upcoming guidelines from Green Key.

Our cleaning agents and toiletries are eco-labeled with the Nordic Swan or the EU-ecolabel which ensures consideration for both the environment, the health of our staff and the well-being of our guests.

We focus on minimizing our waste in order to reuse and recycle as much as possible. We therefore sort our waste according to the national waste plan.

At Pakhus Bryggen, we work actively to reduce our resource consumption including our energy, paper, plastic and water consumption. We use LED bulbs for our lighting, we avoid single-use plastic, and our water filters comply with the 4L/minute limit.

Our kitchen strives to buy organic ingredients when possible. As a Green Key certified venue, a minimum of 15 % of our food is organic. We prioritize using seasonal ingredients from Danish suppliers. Furthermore, we always offer a vegetarian/vegan alternative to our guests.

Wonderful Copenhagen has a sustainability strategy for tourism and is the first in the world to be labeled with the Green Tourism Organization certification.
